Specifications have always been a critical component of construction projects, and the State of Vermont has a nearly 100-year history of issuing its own Standard Specifications. The Pre-Contract and Specifications Office has recently made an effort to preserve these historic specifications and compile what information is known about them. They are important not only as historical documents, but also as a reference for designers and contractors when reviewing record plans.
The table below lists all known editions of the Standard Specifications. Those published from 1995 on are available as searchable PDF documents. Those published prior to 1995 are not currently available in electronic form, however, where the table notes that PC&S has a hard copy, individuals may request photographs of small portions of the book by e-mailing VTrans Public Records at AOT.PublicRecordsManager@vermont.gov. Due to the age and condition of the books, and the manual nature of photographing pages, please keep requests as limited and specific as possible.
The Pre-Contract and Specifications Office has also created a spreadsheet which compiles all known information about each edition of the Standard Specifications.
