Name A Plow Program

All Vermont public and private schools, pre-K programs, nursery schools, and homeschooling students are eligible to participate in our Name a Plow program.

To enter the Name a Plow program, the school’s principal or director must complete the online form below.

In addition to naming a plow truck, Vermont schools may also enter the contest to name AOT’s new truck with a 21-foot “wing” that will be used to clear Interstate 89.

PROGRAM GUIDELINES:

  • Each school may submit only one plow name. This is not a contest. Every school that submits a name will participate. (First come, first served to name the 250 trucks.)
     
  • The principal/director should review the name to ensure that it is appropriate and has not been used already.
     
  • No political or religious references, and no potentially offensive names.
     
  • The list of previous plow names is below. Please review the list before submitting a new name for this year. ONLY new names will be accepted.
     
  • Tip: Shorter names are better. There is one size for all signs, and longer names require smaller text size to fit on the sign and therefore are less visible from a distance.
     
  • Each school’s plow name will be assigned to a plow truck at a Maintenance District garage. The sign on the truck will include the plow name and the school that named it.
     
  • To enter the contest to name the new truck with the 21-foot wing, each principal/director must complete that section of the online form below. AOT’s District Maintenance and Fleet Division employees will then vote to determine which name will go on the new truck.

The deadline to submit a name is October 25, 2024.

VERMONT PLOW DAY

AOT Maintenance District plow operators will visit the schools that name a truck on Thursday, November 7, at 9:00 a.m. (weather permitting) to celebrate the third annual Vermont Plow Day. Schools are invited to take photos of their students and staff with the plow truck and name sign.

 

This submission form must be completed by the school principal or director.

If your school would like to enter the contest to name our new long-wing plow truck, please enter the name you would like to submit for that truck.

 

This name must be DIFFERENT from the plow name that your school chose.
