CMS4: GRS-IBS Technology used for Hartland Bridge Replacement Project

Brief Project Description: With FHWA support, Geosynthetic Reinforced Slope - Integrated Bridge System (GRS-IBS) technology is used for first time in Vermont for replacement of Hartland TH 41 Bridge D37. In this approach, the entire structure of the existing 6-span bridge is being replaced with two short, single-span bridges using the GRS-IBS structures in the median and for abutments. GRS-IBS technology will allow extending the life of the bridge while reducing the project construction time and the cost of construction and maintenance.
