Brief Project Description: Existing guidance for the use of a double-bounded pay factor system for the placement of concrete is inadequate if (1) the design distribution and/or the industry response is non-Normal, and (2) the incentives and disincentives are not symmetrical around the peak of the design distribution. To address this issue, we plan to (1) develop a new approach to calculating percent-within-limits from a non-Normal distribution of concrete compressive strengths, (2) demonstrate the implementation of the new approach for 3 different forecast scenarios, and (3) create a tool to facilitate the implementation of the new approach.
