Developing Prediction Models for Pavement Management

Brief Project Description:

VTrans owns and maintains 3,100 centerline miles of paved roads. For over 20 years they have annually collected pavement condition data such as smoothness, rutting, and cracking. This project used this historical data to develop prediction models for predicting pavement condition to support the Transportation Asset Management Plan (TAMP) and related activities, including predicting pavement performance, setting state and federal condition targets, and financial planning. Pavement deterioration models were developed using historical pavement performance data and are separated based on the type of underlying structure and the type of paving surface treatment.
