Roundabouts

A modern roundabout is a circular intersection in which traffic moves in a counterclockwise direction around the center island.  The intersection is controlled by yield signs on approaches rather than stop signs or traffic signals.

  • Roundabout Safety:
    • Roundabouts have been shown to reduce the number of collisions at intersections, specifically more serious accidents.  Research shows that roundabouts can reduce fatal or injurious crashes by up to 72% (source link)
