This year, once again we invited Vermont schools to name our big orange plow trucks, and we received 118 names from participating schools.

Additionally, this year a new plow truck with a 21-foot-long plow wing joined our fleet, and we invited schools to enter a contest to name this special truck that will be used to clear Interstate 89 in one pass. We received 77 entries, and our Maintenance District employees voted on their favorite.
The winning name is The Vermonster, which came from the students at Townshend Elementary School. The new name and the school name will be on the truck for all to see when The Vermonster is out on the road.
AOT Maintenance District plow operators will visit the schools that named a truck on Thursday, November 7, at 9:00 a.m. to celebrate the third Vermont Plow Day. Schools are invited to take photos of their students and staff with the plow truck and name sign.
