The Construction Work Zone Safety Engineer works to improve the Agency’s overall consistency and efficiency in matters related to traffic management.
They are a resource to construction, highway design, maintenance, contractors, and municipalities in the interpretation of work zone traffic control needs and acts as a technical expert on Agency administered construction projects ensuring compliance with the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) and state standards and specifications
The primary goal is to minimize impacts to mobility for all modes of transportation (pedestrians, bicycles, passenger vehicles and commercial vehicles) while maintaining project constructability.
