Evaluation of Stripping Potential Tests for Bituminous Concrete

As featured in the November 29, 2021 Research and Innovation Newsletter: Is the "boiling water test" a reliable test method for prescreening Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA) materials?

Brief Project Description: The deteriorating effect of moisture on hot mix asphalt is progressive disruption of the integrity of the mix due to action of water by removing or “stripping” the asphalt binder from the surface of aggregate. This projects evaluates the effectiveness of different stripping potential assessment tests, particularly the ASTM D3625, by performing laboratory testing on mix designs with and without anti-stripping additives.
