WPPT4: Responding to Highway Mobility Incidents Using an Advanced Transportation Management System (ATMS)

Brief Project Description: The Transportation Management Center (TMC) at VTrans monitors and responds to mobility incidents on Vermont's state maintained roadways. TMC Operators ingest information from various sources and disseminated the information to the public, agency stakeholders, and the media. Our ATMS, called New England Compass, consolidates various platforms used to manage traffic incidents. With Road Weather Information Stations, Dynamic Message Signs, Alert messaging systems, alarms, and reporting mechanisms in one program, Operators respond to incidents more quickly and effectively while providing a better service to Vermonters.
