About the Office of Civil Rights

What We Do

The Office of Civil Rights is key to ensuring equal opportunity across the state, especially within the Agency of Transportation (AOT). We oversee both internal and external civil rights programs, making sure everything is in line with federal and state laws. Our mission is to advance civil rights goals in partnership with AOT leadership and other agency divisions.

Here's what we handle:

  • Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) Programs, both internally and externally.
  • Disadvantaged Business Enterprises (DBE) Program.
  • Contractor Compliance Program.
  • Supportive Services Programs like DBE and on-the-job training.
  • Labor and Wage Compliance Program.
  • Title VI Program.
  • ADA Program.

Our aim is to be the driving force for equity across the organization. We focus on:

  • Finding ways to promote fairness, equity, and inclusion.
  • Encouraging respect among everyone involved.
  • Meeting all civil rights requirements at the state and federal levels.
  • Ensuring nondiscrimination in AOT programs funded by federal assistance.
  • Removing unlawful discrimination from contracting practices and policies.
