2019 VTrans Innovation Showcase and Career Day

The VTrans Research Section, VTrans Civil Rights, and State Transportation Innovation Council hosted the VTrans Innovation Showcase and Career Day on September 11, 2019 at the VTrans Dill Building, 2178 Airport Road, Berlin. In addition to posters of our research and innovations, we featured demonstrations of VTrans innovations with VTrans staff.
VTrans Innovation Demonstrations
This year, we featured VTrans innovations with demonstrations by VTrans staff. High school students and job seekers were escorted through the demonstrations. VTrans staff, professionals and college students could join any of the demonstrations. Most of the demonstrations were about ten minutes with the exception of the thirty minute Materials Lab tour. Demonstrations included:
the Materials Lab,
Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR),
Road Weather Information System (RWIS)/Wind Turbine/Traffic Management Center (TMC),
Geographical Information Systems (GIS),
culvert inspection robots,
the VTrans Megaplow and Automated Vehicle Location (AVL) system,
a traffic signal cabinet and

We invited escorted high school students, job seekers, and workforce development partners to attend Track B from 9:00 am until 2:00 pm including a welcome session, tour through VTrans demonstrations, lunch on your own, and a career development panel (see the Track B schedule).
