Translation Services at the Agency of Transportation via the State of Vermont contract include:

• Vancro offers American Sign Language and Tactile American Sign Language for in-person meetings scheduled in advance.

• Association of Africans Living in Vermont (AALV) Interpreter Services offers interpretation for in-person meetings scheduled in advance, as well as phone, video and written translation services.

• Propio Language Services offers interpretation for 350+ languages including ASL on demand via app, phone, and video. Written translation services are also available.

Please request an interpreter at least one week prior to the meeting.

• VIIS Interpreter Request Form  Please give as much time as possible when submitting requests so they may be fulfilled in time.

Fee Structure Vancro charges a 17% fee per hour for procuring the interpreter. Net 30 Invoice will also include the interpreter's rates and travel charge if applicable.  

• Following the national standard, Vancro's interpreters charge a base rate equivalent to a 2-hour minimum (approx. $90-$140) for every assignment.
• Any request made for over 1.5 hours may require a second interpreter to be assigned.
• For trials: A retainer for any trail is required and the retainer fee is $500.00 per day of secured time for seven days prior to the trial.
• Please note every attempt will be made to secure a local interpreter.

• Languages that are available include Amharic, Arabic, Bosnian, Burmese, Cantonese, Creole, Dinka, French, Kinyarwanda, Kiswahili, Kirundi, Lingala, Maay Maay, Mandarin, Nepali, Russian, Somali, Spanish, Swahili, Tibetan, and Vietnamese are some of the language's services offered.

Requests

• Onsite, Telephonic and Video Interpretation Requests can be made directly to AALV using AALV’s online portal for interpreting and translation services, found at https://www.aalv-vt.org/interpret. Please give as much notice as possible to AALV when submitting requests. AALV will secure an interpreter email a confirmation in a timely manner. In the case that an interpreter is not available at the time requested, AALV will also communicate that via email. Please ensure that the correct email address is provided in the request. Interpretation is offered during normal business hours, evenings and weekends.

Fee Structure

• Minimum for Onsite appointments Services require a minimum of one hour for in-person appointments. In-person appointments are billed at a rate of $55/hour.
• Minimum for Telephonic and Video interpreting appointments 15-minute minimum charge at a rate of $1/minute for remote appointments.  If the appointment is more than 15 minutes, then the charge is $55/hour.
• Written and Audio Translations The rate is $55/hour.

• Phone Interpretation Spanish Rate / Min = $0.55 and Non-Spanish Rate / Min - $0.76
• Video Interpretation Spanish Rate / Min = $0.95 and Non-Spanish Rate / Min - $1.30
• Video Interpretation ASL Rate / Min = $2.49
• Written Translation Services Rate is $0.19 per word to $0.30 per word depending on language. Rush service within 24 hours is 20% more than base rate.
