The following procedures should be used when transferring Estimator files from Consultants to VTrans;
Consultant Instructions:
-
Export the estimate to XML format
-
With the estimate file open click on the "File" drop down menu and select the "Export..." command.
-
A pop-up box will then appear to prompt the user to select the file type to export the file as and the location to store the file.
-
There is NO need to change the file type because the default is the XML format which is the desired format.
-
-
Attach the XML file to an e-mail and send it to the VTrans project manager responsible for the project
Vtrans Instructions:
-
Save the XML file received from the Consultant to the appropriate project folder where estimate files are typically stored.
-
Login into the Estimator application with the appropriate catalog units and import the .XML file.
-
With Estimator open click on the "File" drop down menu and select the "Import Estimate File" command.
-
A pop-up box will then appear to prompt the user to select the file to import. Navigate to the location where the .XML file was saved and open that file.
-
-
Once opened the file should then be saved as a ".EST" file to the appropriate project folder using the naming convention of "PIN.est". If this naming convention does not show as the default file name when a save is attempted this indicates that the "Estimate ID:" field on page 1 of the project header information is incorrect and needs to have the PIN entered. Please note this may be common with consultant estimates.
-
The project manager is now responsible for checking and approving the estimate for structure and unit price accuracy.
