VTrans Cultural Resources staff includes two archaeologists and two architectural historians, all of whom meet 36 CFR Part 61 qualification requirements.  The Cultural Resources staff is responsible for identifying historic and archaeological properties within VTrans’ project areas and writing regulatory review documents required for Section 106, Section 4(f), 22 VSA 14, and Act 250.  Cultural resource staff is focused on working with Agency staff from all Divisions and Bureaus, as well as municipalities and state and federal partners to ensure resources are appropriately considered during transportation project planning, construction, and maintenance to programmatically avoid and minimize potential impacts to cultural resources.
